2007 Mayors Arts Awardees

Please join Mayor Mark Begich for the 2007 Mayor's Awards for the Arts.

The celebration will be held Wednesday, April 11, 5:30 - 7 p.m. at the Anchorage Museum at Ramuson Center.

The event is free and open to the public.

Individual Artist:
David Hagen
- Since 1995, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Alaska Chamber Singers. Also a teacher in the Anchorage School District.

Arts Group or Organization:
Alaska Native Heritage Center
- An important institution in Anchorage since 1999, showcasing Alaska Native arts and artists.

Champion of the Arts:
Georgia Blue
- Enterprise Director at Anchorage Museum, fosters appreciation and purchase of Native Art; involved in the arts in alaska since 1976; friend and advocate for visual artists.

Youth Arts Award:
Anchorage Youth Symphony
- A training ground and performance venue for young symphonic musicians since 1965, and run by volunteers.

Kay Linton volunteer in the Arts Award:
Opal Myers
- A long-time volunteer and patron of the arts; volunteers with Anchorage Concert Association, Anchorage Museum, supports arts groups throughout the Municipality.

Lorene Harrison Award:
Mary Louise Rasmuson
- A patron of the arts and philanthropist.
